The business was begun by Reginald Webb in 1932. From its earliest daysin Southampton, it has nurtured home-grown talent. Down the years, excellent in-house training opportunities and first-rate working conditions have encouraged a culture of loyalty and professional pride among our staff.
Reginald Webb had a reputation for high standards of workmanship and honesty and the company quickly grew, working with established builders on some of the most prestigious houses in the New Forest. The Duke of Wellington’s estate at Stratfield Saye and Sir Alec Guinness were early clients.
Respected
During the war years the company secured many Ministry of Defence contracts, so much so that it was able to move to larger premises. By the end of the war, the firm was so well respected that it held long-standing maintenance contracts for many military bases on Salisbury Plain. By this time RF Webb also had a shop in Winchester and branch offices in Weymouth and Poole.
During the 1960s, the company expanded its business in the public sector, working on schools, nursing and care homes projects, and counting many local county and city councils as valued clients.
Back in the 30s, Reginald Webb realised the importance of training to secure the future of the company. Many staff who joined as apprentices stayed with the company for decades, some as long as 50 years. Today RF Webb has a thriving 25 Year Staff Club.
